Climbing Knocknarea Up I climb Higher and
higher, Plenty of time, Just passing a wire.
Nearly
there, Up and up, Wind in my hair, I just can’t stop!
At last I’m here, What a great view, Here’s my cheer,
WOO HOO!!!!
Time to go down, But first I’ll see,
Tombs all around, 1, 2, 3!!!
Down at the bottom now,
The climb was fun, Here comes a cow, So I better run!!!!

Knocknarea’s
Strange Visitors Knocknarea, I see every day Out
of the window at school.
So it gave me a fright, To see
there one night,
Aliens there from the moon!

Our trip to Knocknarea Knocknarea is ten
minutes away from our school and is a big hill / small mountain.
Once we got to the car park we met a man named Martin and he told
us what to do and what not to do. So we started to walk up the
stony path and we stopped half way and saw the only tree on the
mountain. He told us a story and asked us a few questions and
started to walk again. Once we got up to the top of the mountain
we saw the tomb and Martin told us about the tomb and brought us
to another tomb. He told us that it is a myth that Queen Maeve is
burried in the tomb and we then headed back down the mountain. I
hope you enjoyed in what I just wrote.

My poem Carrowmore cool sites, So old gives
you frights, So many people buried there, Tourists and
people everywhere.
Knocknarea so big and tall, When I
stand near it I feel really small, With Queen Maeve on top, the
town down below, There is wild sheep going to and fro.
Culleenamore Middens are loads of shells, Culleenamore beach
fun as well. With the sand and water altogether Take a trip
to the beach whatever the weather!!!

Knocknarea The steep grey mountain That
reaches up and touches The clouds With Queen Maeve on top
In her cairn The views of the sea And the countryside You
feel on top Of the world

Stone Circles Sunny hues creep over the
mountain As the sun retires after yet another day, All that
gives it away, A small golden fountain, The moon, Once
again comes up, For the sun and moon its one endless game of
hide’n’seek, The sun like the persistent pup, Is just ahead
never giving its self a rest, The moon like the loving parent,
Constantly on the look out, Old, wise, gentle, On and on it,
This simple game, On and on….

The Bull of Cooley Queen Maeve didn’t have a
bull but her husband did. Queen Maeve was quite jealous. Maeve
heard of another bull that was stronger than the one that her
husband had. The brown bull was owned by a guy called Daire and he
lived in Ulster. Maeve wanted that bull so she went up to Ulster
with her army.
Cuchulainn was the only warrior who was
awake to fight Maeves army, because Conor Mac Neasa the king of
Ulster couldn’t stop Queen Maeve because his army were under a
spell. Maeve chose the best warrior to try and fight Cuchulainn.
Cuchulainn fought Queen Meave’s army all one by one. The queen
wandered off and got a guy called Ferdia. Ferdia was Cuchulainn’a
best friend. Ferdia didn’t really want to fight Cuchulainn but
queen Maeve made him.
The two army’s fought for three days
straight. On the fourth day Ferdia hit Cuchulainn with his sword
and was bleeding for a long while. Cuchulainn called for the Gae
Bulga. The Gae Bulga was Cuchulainns magic sword. Cuchulainn threw
the sword at Ferdia and it went right through his body. He fell
flat to the ground. The fight was over.
Maeve took the
brown bull home. The brown bull killed the white bull and ran back
to Ulster, it was running back so fast it hit his head off a wall
and died.
