St. Patrick's N.S., Calry, Sligo

Welcome our project page.

We had great fun during this project. We visited The Deer Park which is close to our school in Calry as well as taking a trip to Parke's Castle, set on the beautiful shores of Lough Gill.

This website contains a sample of all the work we did on the project and we hope that you will enjoy exploring with us the heritage of County Sligo.
OUR SCHOOL

St. Patrick’s National School Calry is a co-educational primary school situated about three miles from Sligo town. The school opened in 1989 following the amalgamation of the old Calry school and Dunally school. The population of the school has continued to grow since 1989 and at the moment there are 12 teachers in the school consisting of the principal, 8 mainstream class teachers and 3 special education teachers. We have one special needs assistant, a part-time secretary and a full time caretaker/cleaner. There are 206 pupils in the school at present.

In 2005 an extension consisting of 3 additional classrooms, a general purposes room, a library, a new staffroom and some ancillary accommodation was added to the school. Primarily through the funding of the Parent’s Association the library was augmented to include a computer laboratory consisting of 20 PCs , a server, data projector, and interactive whiteboard and colour photocopier. There is also a fully networked PC in each classroom and resource room as well as an interactive whiteboard and data projector in every class. The school offers the full range of subjects as outlined in the primary school curriculum. There is also a strong commitment to extra curriculum activities particularly in relation to sport, drama and project work.
